Our student Rania Awad Receives Grand Award at Terra NYC STEM Fair

Huge congratulations to our outstanding student, Rania Awad! We are incredibly proud of her remarkable achievement and the dedication she has shown to her training. Her hard work, curiosity, and passion for science shine through in this accomplishment.

On March 21st, high school senior Rania Awad competed at the final round of the Terra NYC STEM Fair. This year, 597 projects were submitted by high schoolers from across New York City, and only 109 progressed to the Final Round. Rania presented the work on the effect of the ABCA7 gene on cognitive behavior in Alzheimer’s disease using our zebrafish models to Terra’s judges, professors and researchers who were experts in the field. On March 28th, Terra held the Award Ceremony, and Rania won the Grand Award of first place in the Behavioral Social Sciences and Psychology / Sociology category. Rania was also awarded the American Psychological Association award.

Rania plans to continue pursuing science in college and plans to study neuroscience at Brown University. We are proud of Rania’s achievement and wish her continued success in her future studies and research.
